For you, someone that’s probably not an egomaniac, you simply have to convince yourself that you could be the best candidate for the job. Don’t think of the question as having to prove a demonstrable truth. Think of it as simply providing evidence that you have the potential to be the best. And this is exactly what the panel is truly asking. No one can truly know if they are the best for a job unless they know all the other candidates extremely well. And you are not expected to have that kind of insight on people you’ve never met. So just explain your strengths and how those can potentially make you the best candidate.
